Brought to you by Dale Vince, founder of the energy company Ecotricity, Ecotalk uses money from its customers’ bills to give land back to nature. Each month you pay for your phone bill, some of that money goes into rewilding projects. Ecotalk also claim that all calls, texts and data are powered by “green energy”. Currently they only offer sim-only plans, so if you need a new mobile phone you’ll need to look elsewhere.
Your Co-op
Your coop, formerly The Phone Coop, is a brand owned by The Midcounties Co-operative, a member-led organisation with strong ethical standards. On average they say a Your Coop Mobile customer helps to plant 12 trees per year and remove 300kg of CO2 from the atmosphere. If you’re looking for a new phone, they also offer the Fairphone 5 on a 24 month contract.
Honest Mobile
Honest Mobile is our third choice for the most eco-friendly network. The brand was designed from the very beginning to be planet-friendly and they claim to be carbon-negative. They also offer a loyalty discount where your bill becomes cheaper every month until it’s 30% cheaper than where you started.
